About Us

Enhancing Health Care in the Kitimat Area

The Kitimat General Hospital Foundation strengthens health care at Kitimat General Hospital and across the Northwest, because we believe everyone in our region deserves exceptional care, no matter where they live.

What We Do

Where Your Support Goes

We raise funds through philanthropic giving, community fundraising and partnerships, and put that money to work in three ways.

Medical Equipment

Purchasing the equipment our hospital needs to diagnose and treat patients close to home.

Staff Development

Supporting professional development for the people who care for our community every day.

Patient Comfort

Funding programs that improve the comfort and wellbeing of patients and their families.

  • Registered charity
  • Governed by a volunteer board of Kitimat residents
  • Every dollar raised stays local

Our Story

Built by Kitimat, for Kitimat.

The Foundation was started by members of our community. Since then, we have worked alongside Northern Health, the provincial government and local businesses to close the gaps that public funding leaves behind.

Kitimat sits between the Coast Mountains and the Douglas Channel, and reaching specialist care often means a long trip. Our goal is to bring more services home, so families can spend less time on the road and more time together.

Over three decades we have helped fund diagnostic imaging equipment, palliative care spaces, surgical upgrades and training programs that help attract and keep health care professionals in our community.
